In this trip, we will observe the changes and transformations that Istanbul has gone through over the centuries, and evaluate the similarities and differences in how locals and foreigners perceive the same city within the framework of art. In addition to art, the concepts of Orientalism, tourism, cultural values and the way they are presented are among the topics we will touch upon.

Istanbul as Far as the Eye Can See and Painting Istanbul from Yesterday to Today:

For centuries, Istanbul has fascinated everyone with its colors and beauty and has been the main source of inspiration for artists, finding a different taste in every corner.

Westerners who came to Istanbul on various occasions during the Ottoman Period both admired it and examined it with great curiosity, learned books about it, drew pictures, and tried to solve its mystery a little. They wanted to take a piece of this beauty with them when they left.

While Meşher constructs a period of time from the 15th century to the first quarter of the 20th century under the title of 'Landscapes from Five Centuries', in the form perceived by western eyes, under themes, accompanied by paintings, books, engravings and historical photographs belonging to the periods, the new İş Banaksı Painting and Sculpture Museum continues the story in its temporary exhibition area, almost from the dates left by Meşher and with very different approaches of painters native to Istanbul.
