Musée d'Orsay Hosts Peter Doig Exhibition

“I don’t try to make the paintings look like photographs.”

At the invitation of Christophe Leribault, the Musee d'Orsay hosts Peter Doig. The artist has not had a solo exhibition for fifteen years.

Musée d'Orsay hosts the exhibition "Reflections of the Century", which brings together the works of artist Peter Doig with art lovers, between October 17, 2023 and January 21, 2024. The selection consists of the exhibition, which is shaped around the artist's works and the museum works he particularly loves.

Peter Doig is a contemporary Scottish artist who is recognised as one of the most important representational painters alive today. His paintings are characterised by a focus on both landscapes and figures, combining art historical and personal references into idiosyncratic compositions of abstraction. Created as powerful and moving snapshots of contemporary existence, such as a childhood ski trip or an orange canoe, Doig’s works are both quotidian and universal; he describes his art practice with the phrase “I don’t try to make paintings look like photographs.”
